Challenger Wine Trust (“CWT”) is a vineyard investment business which owns 17 vineyards located across Australia and New Zealand. The business is owned 72% by the Hong Kong company CK Life Sciences and 28% by Australian company Challenger Life. Challenger Funds Management manages the business on behalf of the owners. The portfolio of vineyards are located in regions including Margaret River, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra, Padthaway, Riverland, Sunraysia, Riverina , Napier and Marlborough regions. In December 2011, the portfolio held 4,000 ha of vineyards. The vineyards are leased to wine companies including Australian Vintage, Treasury Wine Estate, Premium Wine Brands, Warburn Estate and Grant Burge Wines in Australia, and Delegat’s Group (owner of the Oyster Bay brand) in New Zealand.
